Archive Hour, Archive on Four

Last Edited: 15-Jan-2018 A Global British Comedy Collaborative document. Edited by John Lucas
Broadcast source is BBC Radio Four unless otherwise indicated. Recordings are good unless otherwise indicated.

The two names refer to the same program. Archive on Four began to be used, I think in 2009, at least partly to avoid confusion about 45 minute long repeats of the program. It is still referred to as Archive Hour in some BBC articles and messages.

A note about repeated episodes and "missing" recordings: Contemporary cataloguing of Archive Hour episodes began on 26-Jul-2008. Prior to that time (roughly 175 episodes), repeat broadcasts may or may not have been noted but were not cataloged as they were broadcast. This results in three possibilities for repeated episodes in the following tables:
  1. A repeated episode before 26-Jul-2008 and noted at the time as a repeat -- the row for that date is in gray and "no programme or repeat?" as given as the title
  2. A repeated episode before 26-Jul-2008 and not noted as a repeat at the time -- the episode is fully listed but the earlier broadcast date (with recording) is included in the Date column. The repeated copy is still retained.
  3. A repeated episode after 26-Jul-2008 and noted as a repeat at the time -- the episode is shown as a repeat and no recording of the repeat was preserved
